Look beyond the colour

A material is more than a swatch. Its character comes from the way it reflects light, the scale of its texture and the marks it carries. A familiar object can feel entirely different when those qualities change.

Read the surface in context

We gather physical references and look at them under different kinds of light. The question is not simply whether a surface looks convincing, but whether it belongs in the world of the image.

Small variations matter. A soft highlight, a slightly uneven edge or a quieter reflection can make a polished visual feel more considered. The right amount of detail depends on the story and the viewing distance.
